Job Details Job Location : Flower Mound - Flower Mound, TX Salary Range : $24.00 - $32.00 Hourly Description Position Summary Under guidance of the Director, Innovation, the Industrial Engineer Intern (IE) will be responsible for analyzing distribution process through observation and time studies and working with the distribution team to implement the most optimal work methods. The IE will also participate in 5S activities intended to organize the distribution work areas and will be responsible for developing a staffing operating plan. Essential Functions and Duties The primary job duties will include conducting floor observations of events that cause downtime and conducting time and motion studies. The IE will then analyze the studies to determine optimal work methods and staffing arrangements and assist the operating team to implement. Work with distribution team mates to conduct time and motion studies of distribution processes related to pick, pack and ship. Collect quantified observations of downtime occurrences. Analyze data to determine a more optimal approach, test solution and revise until optimized under current constraints. Create clear and concise documentation to describe optimized work methods and staffing plan. Operates office equipment: computer, scanner, printer, copier, fax, 10 Key, calculator, and phone. Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws. Display dedication to position responsibilities and achieve assigned goals and objectives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required Education: Minimum of two (2) years completed in a Bachelor's degree program in industrial engineering. Required Knowledge: Time and motion study. MS Office skills and especially strong MS Excel skills. Preferred Knowledge: Lean / Six Sigma DMAIC process Required Skills: Must have strong organizational skills. Must have a detail orientation and the proven ability to prioritize work. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team. Sound decision-making abilities. Physical requirements Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for prolonged periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts to 50 lbs. and occasionally kneels and bends. Working condition include warehouse setting. Mental Demands Learning, thinking, concentration and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during busy times. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure excellent customer service. Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations' situations. Must have the ability to exercise discretion as well as appropriate judgments when necessary. Must be proactive in finding solutions.
