And it is our hard-working and dedicated employees that make it work. We are seeking a Field Engineer. This is a full-time position with the schedule of 8A to 4:30P out of our Lafayette location. The Field Engineer will be responsible for investigating surveying and staking electric distribution lines in accordance with construction specifications as described below: Plan, design and determine location of overhead and underground distribution lines, prepare all paperwork associated with rephase staking of electric lines and services. Conduct search of county records to ascertain ownership of properties and disposition of rights along roads, streets, and highways. Obtain right-of-way and permits necessary to perform rephasing. Project a positive public image and maintain satisfactory public relations by responding to consumer inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Maintain and submit required reports, work orders, time sheets, invoices, etc. on a timely basis. Provide technical assistance in areas of system design, construction and maintenance. Adhering to and achieving exact levels of performance, using precision measuring instruments, tools, and machines to attain precise dimensions; require preparing exact verbal and numerical records; require complying with precise instruments and specifications for materials, methods, procedures, and techniques to attain specified standards. Maintain assigned equipment, tools, and materials in safe and efficient condition Maintain current knowledge of equipment, RUS specifications, OSHA regulations, mapping system, and other operational and regulatory systems related to the responsibilities of the position This position will interact with consumers to assure timely resolution of service issues. To qualify, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. College or Technical School Graduate preferred. Substantial experience in this field may be substituted for a college degree. Candidates must possess knowledge of electrical technology, circuit analysis, safety techniques, and electrical hardware and equipment, have and maintain an insurable driving record, and must be knowledgeable in the areas of line construction, maintenance of lines, substation construction and maintenance and other technical areas of electrical distribution and transmission.
