Clinical Laboratory Technologist III (Multiple positions) Job Duties:Performs QC and calibrations with appropriate frequency and evaluates results to decide whether test should be reported.Selects and evaluates control material and data using established criteria. Initiates a corrective action process whenever test system does not perform according to established criteria.Consistently and independently performs the more complex level of clinical tests by following department procedures.Performs newly introduced test to the laboratory, as needed.Knowledge of CAP and CLIA standards, as well as an understanding of the requirements set forth by CAP/CLIA, to ensure ongoing compliance in the laboratory is upheld.Assumes initiative for prompt, accurate performance of test results with appropriate documentation of result.Follows the laboratorys procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintains accurate and complete records of all testing performed on-site.Maintains records that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.Determines the acceptability of specimens for testing, prepares clinical specimens for testing and identifies specimen related problems according to established SOP guidelines.Analyzes specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs)Reviews, releases test results and follows departments procedure in reporting STATS or Critical results to the interpreting physician per department SOP.Performs and documents Quality Control on reagents, equipment and assays. Recognizes and acts on QC failures by consultation or follow-up with the department Supervisor or Lead technologist regarding courses of action taken to achieve resolution.Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.Assists the department in ensuring an efficient workflow operation by reporting existing problems, i.e., problems concerning individual cases, tests, equipment and supplies that may cause significant delay on the workflow process to the department Lead, Supervisor or DirectorPrepare stock solutions, reagents and cocktails used in the laboratory as per established SOPs. Tests and evaluates them based on standard criteria and documents all observed results.Ensures accurate tracking and labeling of reagents, solutions, and supplies.Helps maintain acceptable productivity, TAT and workflow.Maintains laboratory in a clean, functional state, as well as cleaning, performing or scheduling equipment and instrument maintenance/calibration/certification, as requiredDemonstrates initiative in making suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity and provides consistent feedback.Attends monthly department and any additional training/educational meetings.Work Schedule: Number of hours per week: 40 hours per week. Daily Work Schedule: Sunday through Thursday 10:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. Education: Primary Requirements: Bachelors degree (or its foreign equivalent) in Medical Technology or Cytogenetic Technology Experience: Six years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or closely related occupation.OR Alternate Requirements: Bachelors degree (or its foreign equivalent) in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences with the addition of one year of laboratory experience/training/ training course Experience: Five years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or closely related occupation.
