The Senior Media Relations Strategist is responsible for serving as a subject matter expert and integral advisor internally and externally. Building strategic earned media campaigns in collaboration with client teams. Advising C-suite executives on overall PR strategy. Developing compelling stories and pitch angles. Reviewing press releases, media lists, pitches created by the team. Building and maintaining a rolodex of key media contacts on behalf of our clients. Coaching and training internally and with clients. Strategic media relations areas of oversight and responsibility leading media relations for an enterprise client. EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree required. REQUIRED SKILLS The ideal candidate has 8+ years of media relations experience, preferably with 2+ years in an agency environment. We will strongly consider journalists with applicable skills. Required experience includes, but is not limited to: Thorough understanding of local and national media (print, digital and social), influencers, advocates, and their needs with emphasis on consumer Demonstrated success in securing significant media coverage Existing media relationships Executive presence and experience Decision-making skills including ability to ability to apply critical thinking to a simple or complex situation, analyze situations including short- and long-term impact, understand the available options, and recommend the best course of action among the options Project management skills including time management prioritization Leadership skills with managing teams and clients with influence Understanding of long-term communications strategy and messaging needs as well as the right channels/events to utilize to deploy materials Experience with and understanding of PR and marketing concepts and practices Effective communication, writing and editing skills and knowledge of AP Style Experience with media monitoring and reporting Platform knowledge of Meltwater, Muckrack, Cision, PR Newswire and other standard tools Working knowledge of social media Excellent attention to detail, strong proofreading skills and ability to multitask and execute through to completion Candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating calm under pressure EMPLOYEE BENEFITS We believe that great work starts by taking care of our people.
