J o b Su mm a ry : Music is an integral part of the life of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School, and serves as an important ministry that reaches out to parishioners and staff creating opportunities for our community to be drawn into, and meaningfully engaged in, the Church through music. The Director of Music is responsible for the overall sacred music program of the parish, including planning liturgical music with key staff and clergy members, personnel management of Assistant Director (of choir) singers (paid and volunteer), programs, concerts, and music events. The Director will provide a highly skilled routine of excellence in music at all parish liturgies, in which the organ is the primary instrument. Ess en t i a l J o b Duti e s : Integral team member in planning all masses, including hymns, acclamations, and other choral or service music, and coordination with the choir director and other ministry leaders Lead the music as organist/pianist at worship for most weekend and school masses, including scheduling and preparing ensembles and cantors In coordination with the Assistant Director supervise and consult with all ensembles (such as the Children's Choir or other groups) to ensure their leadership and accompanying needs are provided for Coordinate with liturgical staff for planning of all Weddings and Funerals, assisting with music selection and worship aids, and engaging outside musicians as required Develop and manage the Music Ministry budget including the payroll for staff musicians, check requests for maintenance, payments to any outside musicians for special celebrations or vacation coverage, and all other expenses in coordination with the finance office Recruit volunteer(s) for involvement in all aspects of Music Ministry, including administrative and logistical needs, in addition to musician involvement Developing the Friends of the Kings Music Concert Series, and other special musical and concert needs, coordinating with related ministries, networking with artists, and development Collaborate with the music teacher/leader of St. Louis Catholic School to ensure music is planned and provided for all school liturgical celebrations Maintain a focus on the Parish Mission in all service to the church: our mission is to unite god's people in the sacraments, steward his generosity, and evangelize the community. Responsible for maintaining and creating needed worship aids Kno wl ed g e , S k i l l s , a n d Abi l it i e s: Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. M i n imum Q u a li f i c a t i on s: Ed u c a tion a n d Tr a i n i n g : Master's Degree in Organ or Sacred Music, being highly skilled in service playing, improvisation, and liturgical repertoire on the organ Experience: 3-5 years experience leading a liturgical music ministry program, preferably Catholic Preferred minimum of 3 years of management experience Experience and familiarity with the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, and Sing to the Lord Experience managing both volunteers and professionals, including scheduling, communication, and organization. Including parish/church staff, parishioners, and outside vendors and visitors.
