Location: This position is in INDOTs LaPorte District Construction Division, we have opportunities in LaPorte, Logansport, Plymouth, Gary, Chesterton, and Valparaiso. Role Overview:As the Construction Project Engineer, you will be responsible for contract management of the districts construction projects. You will work with designers, project managers, and agency leaders while providing on:site support of project scope, payments, construction methods and equipment, project progress and scheduling, and contractor forecasts. Additionally, you will manage a team of highway technicians (inspectors), helping to mentor and train them in testing of materials and inspection best practices while issuing feedback on performance. As part of INDOTs construction division you have the ability to be a part of various complex projects providing value in the service provided as quality assurance for all taxpayers in Indiana. About the department: The Construction Division at INDOT is primarily responsible for managing and executing the agencys multimillion:dollar contracts for preventative maintenance and new construction of INDOTs facilities (i.e. roadways, bridges, culverts, and traffic signals). Our mission:driven, service:led team accomplishes this by overseeign all phases of the construction contract and progress to ensure contractors deliver a quality product that conforms to plans and specifications. Indiana has recently been ranked 1 in the infrastructure category of CNBCs Top States for Business report and offers opportunities for advancement in construction as well as other departments related to infrastructure. Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at 67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Construction Engineer:A professional engineering license is not required for this position. Candidates who have an Engineering degree but do not hold a professional license may be hired at a lower minimum salary and will then be eligible for promotional increases upon achieving milestones, including passing the EIT exam, years of experience, and obtaining their professional engineering license.
