Do you have a passion to serve your community? Are you seeking an opportunity to utilize your employment and/or educational background in a community based non-profit setting? Do you want to learn more about community resources and assist underserved populations? If you answered yes to any (or all) of these questions, I want you to join me - to be productive with me in changing the community issues we are facing - to join me in building this AmeriCorps program and our communities together. This role provides an opportunity to be a change agent working toward closing the gap and removing barriers to thriving for communities and their families. Our program partners with community based non-profit organizations to identify underserved individuals who would benefit from a positive relationship that can give targeted social and emotional support as well as connection to resources. Openings are available to serve with: Lehigh Valley Active Life [20-22 hrs/week] - Paxinosa Elementary School [12-15 hrs/week] - Greater Valley YMCA [20-22 hrs/week]. Members will learn about and build partnerships with community resources to assist the community at large. Assess needs to identify what programs individuals are eligible for and help them through the application process. Identify individuals who could benefit from basic need supports (food, housing, medical, etc). Assist in household budgeting and increase in knowledge of financial stability resources. Develop initial success plans with the family/individual. Communicate with local stakeholders to improve warm hand offs and referrals between agencies. Serve as a link between individuals and other providers. Coordinate facilitation of trainings and bridge gap in access to services. Collect data, track individual and family outcomes. Attend trainings through UWGLV and host location. While serving, members receive a living allowance dispersed twice per month in addition to an education award at the end of successful service term. Service terms are 8-10 months in duration. (starting August 26, 2024) Hours per week vary from 10 - 34 based on host location need and availability of member.
