The Physical Activity and Cancer Survivorship (PACS) Lab in the Department of Health and Human Physiology, led by Professor Jess Gorzelitz, is seeking a Research Assistant to manage day-to-day operations of ongoing behavioral trials of exercise in endometrial cancer survivors. Comfort in interacting with gynecologic cancer survivors is critical to this position. Seeking highly motivated, well-organized, strong communicators who are passionate about exercise and physical activity in cancer survivorship.This is a specified-term appointment at 100% effort for 1 year. After 1 year, the specified-term appointment may be eligible for renewal dependent on funding.Key Responsibilities * Scheduling research participants. * Communicating with research participants. * Scheduling, conducting and tracking participant visits. * Communicating with study participants, research staff, PI. * Participant monitoring on study, including assessment of adverse events. * Working alongside trainees including graduate students on research protocols. * Executing research protocols and procedures as indicated via research protocols. Education Required * Bachelor's degree in a health-related field (e.g., health and human physiology, exercise science, public health, nursing, etc.). Required Qualifications * Experience working with cancer survivors. * Knowledge of medical terminology. * Health coaching and motivational interviewing experience. * Demonstrated experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs and the ability to learn new skills quickly. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work independently and in a team environment. * Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, strong organizational skills, and accurate record keeping. * Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends to accommodate research participant schedules. Desired Qualifications * Master's degree in a relevant health-related field is preferred but not required. * Minimum one year experience in a research or clinical setting. * Interest in life-style related research. * Familiarity with REDCap and EPIC. * Knowledge of IRB, PRMC documentation and processes. * Experience with adult anthropometric and blood pressure measurements. * Knowledge of methods to assess strength and function in older adults. * Research experience with physical activity assessment and/or cancer survivor assessments.
