This position specifically islocated in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for five Outside Machinists J1 : J4. Shift: ALL Security Clearance :No Clearance Outside Machinist J4 Education Requirements Typically has a High School diploma or equivalent plus relevant work experience as noted below: ESSENTIAL JOB KNOWLEDGE : Must be able to identify parts, read tech manuals, spec items and blueprints. : Must be able to furnish sizes and clearance and also recommendations to supervisor. : Must be able to work on any equipment below with no supervision. :Must have four plusyears directly related experience in a Shipyard Environment. :Able to read and use tech manuals and blueprints and specification items. Essential Functions/Duties: : Experienced in machinery overhaul and installation and testing of all the following:: Winches (Electric driven* Electro hydraulic): Anchor windlasses: Steering gear: Air compressors: Pump and motor alignments: Valve repairs: Diesel engine repairs: Hydraulic trouble shooting * repairs: Reduction gear repairs: Generator repairs: Boat davit repairs: Bearing fit:up and installation: Gas turbine repairs: Louvers: Aircraft Elevators: Underwater Hull Strainer Plates: Cranes: Brakes: Resilient Mounts: Emitter Belts: OD Box Removal/Install: Sliding Pad Eyes: Rast Track : Propulsion experience of the following:: Shafting repairs and alignment, fixed and controllable pitch: Propellers removed and installed: Rudders repair and installed : Tool requirements:: Operate grinder fixed and portable: Operate drill presses fixed and portable: Fixed presses: Porta powers: Hydraulic jacks: Torches and torque wrenches: Assorted sizes of combination wrenches: socket sets: slip joint pliers: adjustable wrenches, : wire pliers, : hammers:ball pean, flat head, small mall: screw drivers (flat and phillips) : vise grips, : 6" scale: 12' tape measure : snap ring pliers. : Micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, : pipe wrench, : punch set and chisels: Other tools as identified and determined as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS X Carrying X Lifting X Walking X Climbing X Pulling X Must be able to go on vessels X Crawling X Sitting X Visual Requirements X Crouching X Standing X Hearing X Stooping Other X Kneeling X Talking Visual Requirements: The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach or performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non:repetitive nature such as ones by electricians, technicians, service people, painters, mechanics, etc. Must be able to climb on and around ships and walk to other yard areas and requires extended periods of standing and walking (75). Inspections and work may require climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding and observing co:workers using tools and equipment.
