In this position, you will be performing engineering services functions to reduce exposure of property and persons to natural hazards through review and implementation of specialized programs and studies, as well as dissemination of technical assistance and information. Typical assignments include: Serving as a regional expert on current technology used for the Risk MAP initiative, including two-dimensional modeling, LIDAR remote sensing, Hazus flood loss estimation tools, and incorporates advances in these new technologies into Risk MAP studies. Providing expert technical direction to contractors' Study Managers conducting flood risk studies and Risk MAP Program mapping. Formulating guidelines and specifications for the planning and engineering aspects of flood, mudslide, and erosion studies to ensure that flood risk studies will provide a sound basis for insurance rating and floodplain management measures.
