Position Overview Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Warehouse and Distribution, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface General Hospital, the DISPATCHER is responsible for: receiving, recording and charging out all requests for deliveries or pickups of supplies, equipment, courier service, specimens, x-rays, requisitions, etc. and dispatching porters, messengers and supply attendants to respond to these calls; problem solving relating to immediate issues; performing receptionist and clerical duties; initiating and updating unit orders; compiling statistics; assigning staff; and performing other performing other related duties as assigned. Experience Six (6) months related office experience, plus; Six (6) months experience in an area where medical/surgical supplies are handled. OR Six (6) months experience in the Messenger classification. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Grade XII or recognized equivalent. Qualifications and Skills Data entry speed: 65 numerical keystrokes per minute. Ability to work in a Windows operating environment. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
