EMERGENCY Sessional Instructional Assistant FSC100H5 F The Real CSI RATE OF PAY: Effective September 1, 2023 the minimum hourly rate shall be: $52.26 COURSE: FSC100H5 F The Real CSI COURSE DESCRIPTION: This class introduces the science of Crime Scene Investigation and related forensic specialities. Students will learn about the latest scientific developments in the field, contrasting these to popular portrayals of CSI in the media, and addressing the impact of popular portrayals on juror expectations, knowledge and misconceptions. Note: This is a general first year course open to everyone. COURSE ENRLLMENT: 500 NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1 SIZE OFAPPOINTMENT: 200 hours (total number of assigned hours for all positions is dependent on course enrolment). APPOINTMENT DATES: September 1, 2023-December 31, 2023 LECTURES: Tuesdays 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM TUTORIALS: None QUALIFICATIONS: Preference is for applicants to have substantial science course background at the graduate level and background in Forensic Science; knowledge and familiarity of areas within the various Forensic Sciences fields of forensic science in Canadian criminal law and its current position within the legal system. Candidates with previous research, forensic science background, teaching, scientific research and project management, marking and field experience are preferred. Preference is given to qualified candidates who have obtained their B. Sc. in Forensic Science at UTM and who work in research labs within the related forensic sub disciplines at UTM. DUTIES Head TA: Assignment and test preparation; Invigilate all tests/exams; Respond to student enquiries/office hours; Attend lectures and generate possible test questions, Supervise and co-ordinate the TAs (Markers) marking meetings/grading; Prepare and deliver training to course TA's.
