Summary We are looking for a detail-oriented staff accountant to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization. The staff accountant's responsibilities include assisting in preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with 1099 tax filing preparations, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. To be successful as a staff accountant, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial analysis skills. An outstanding staff accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently. Essential Job Functions Coordinating accounting functions and programs. Preparing financial analyses and reports. Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts. Assisting with annual audit preparations. Investigating and resolving account discrepancies. Assisting with tax filing preparations for federal, state, local, 1099 and special tax returns. Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures. Performing other accounting duties and supporting accounting department staff as required or assigned. Review contracts for revenue recognition and ASC 606 compliance. Ability to review large data sets and analyze information for business review and KPI metrics. Reconciling customer account balances and assist in resolution of discrepancies. Other duties as assigned Key Competencies Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing Capability to balance multiple projects and stay on top of the details of each Ability to work independently Strong organizational skills Proactive and solution oriented mindset Be open to coaching and development from leadership and peers Positive attitude and very customer-centric; always willing to put the customers’ needs first Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of accounting experience Proficiency in ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred) and other accounting software such as Bill.com, Avalara, and Divvy will be highly preferred Working knowledge of GAAP Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Note: This job description is not intended to cover all activities, duties, or responsibilities.
