Lexical, morpho-syntactic and phonological variation will be discussed and theoretical descriptions will be illustrated by using samples from contemporary cinema and television. (Offered in alternate years). Estimated course enrolment: 30 Estimated TA support: none Class schedule: Monday 3:00 – 5:00 pm Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. Salary: Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.89 Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term: $9,930.79 Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77 Sessional Lecturer III: $10,326.62 Minimum qualifications: Ph D completed in Hispanic linguistics or closely related area. Native or near native speaker of Spanish. Demonstrated knowledge of phonologic and morpho-syntactic variation across the Spanish-speaking world. Preferred qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with successful previous teaching of similar courses, as well as proven excellent communication and cooperation skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with teaching Hispanic linguistics, course management systems are essential (Quercus). Expertise with Latin American Culture, Spanish-speaking diaspora is an essential qualification. Description of duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; invigilating tests; and final exams.
