Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals and is looking for a part-time Clinical Research Lab Assistant. The Lab Assistant position is located within a cardiovascular laboratory at Stanford University and the Palo alto VA Medical Center and calls for a highly motivated, intelligent, responsible, conscientious, and detail-oriented individual. The successful candidate must be a quick learner who enjoys acquiring new skills, advancing projects independently and collaboratively. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with a proven interest in several of the following areas: computational biology, Python, R, and statistics. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF A LAB ASSISTANT Assist with the analysis of single cell data; Assist in Python programming, R programming; Assist in developing programs to obtain data from iphones; Assist in computational modeling; Following and ensuring compliance with institutional and federal guidelines in health, safety and animal regulations; Preparing figures and protocols and learning computational techniques; Other tasks as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Required: Undergraduate student; 0-1 year undergraduate research experience; Preferred: Area of study in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, or related discipline; More than 1 year research lab experience; Willingness to work with team members; Knowledge of Python, R, C++ Strong organizational skills, work ethic, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; Ability to work independently as well as with others as a team in a productive manner; Cover letter providing additional information and explaining your qualifications, interests, and career goals is desired .
