Position Overview Under the overall direction of the Manager, Integrated Health and Social Services, the Recreation Therapist is responsible for implementing recreation programs as per identified needs; providing therapeutic recreation activities to individuals and groups; evaluating existing programs; preparing relevant reports on a regular basis; participating in conferences and staff meetings; working with students and volunteers; working with families of patients, in ensuring follow up care; organizing patient outings; participating in research activities; and performing other related duties as assigned. Experience A minimum of 1 year working in a health care setting. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required. Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, required. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Certification/Licensure/Registration Eligible for registration with applicable professional licensing body if applicable. Qualifications and Skills Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the delivery of recreation services to various populations. Demonstrated leadership skills.
