For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu. Job Description: This administrative position is directly accountable to the Executive Director of Finance & Controller. It is a high-level technical accounting position that requires accuracy and discretion regarding the maintenance of all College accounting records. Manage back-office operation. Essential Duties: Responsible for the timely closing of financial records at year end, preparation of Financial Statements and enrollment information for audit. Responsible for reviewing College financial information for accuracy, prepares journal entries as required. Prepares financial reports as requested by the Vice President for Finance and/or Administration and the Controller. Review expenditures of capital projects and prepare voucher to Somerset County and the State of New Jersey. Responsible for the oversight of timely reporting of grant reports to Federal, State and local agencies. Reviews and develops internal accounting controls and operational procedures to be approved by the Controller. Initiate and coordinate implementation of a fixed asset module. Oversee maintenance of fixed asset and depreciation recording. Interacts with the Director of Financial Aid to reconcile student financial aid. Responsible for the administration and rollforward of all fund balances. Responsible for the maintenance of the College's chart of accounts. In absence of Controller oversee department management. Performs related duties as assigned by the Controller and Vice President of Finance & Facilities. Liaisons: New Jersey Community College Business Officers Affinity Group (NJCCBOAG) National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) BANNER Users Group Requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business management required. Must exhibit demonstrable expertise in accounting principles and systems. At least five years of experience required in higher education finance, preferably at a community college. Experience with computerized financial systems required. Must exhibit fair and courteous behavior in performance of his/her duties and present a good public image as a representative of the College. Preferred Qualifications: Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting or CPA license is preferred. Experience with BANNER client server environment preferred.
