The WJB Dorn VA Medical Center located in Columbia, SC is recruiting for a BE/BC Psychiatrist for outpatient care at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Florence, SC, Anderson, SC and at the Columbia, SC VA Medical Center. The psychiatrist will be working with Veterans suffering with major psychiatric illnesses. Because of the high rate of co-morbidity issues evident in Veteran psychiatric populations, it is preferable for this physician to have expertise in psychopharmacology. The psychiatrist will provide psychosocial therapy, medication management and group therapy for Veteran patients, particularly those recently returning from combat and combat support assignments. Normal work schedule is Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. Work schedule is determined by management. Salary Range: Up to $240,000 per year The Dorn VAMC is one of the fastest growing VA Medical Centers in the US. Our quality processes and practice innovations are excellent. The medical center is affiliated and co-located with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Qualifications: Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens. Licensure and Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine holding regular institutional m embership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure. Physical Standards/Requirements: All applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform efficiently the duties of the position. English Language Proficiency: Applicant must be proficient in spoken and written English as required.
