Job Summary The Assistant Director of the School of Nursing (SON) Student Services participates in and is responsible for ensuring positive outcomes for all operations (recruitment/retention, admissions, orientations, academic advising, academic actions, public relations); and Student Services staff supervision. Included in the role are management of student and program data and preparation of reports; staff development and evaluation; and development and implementation of operational plans, policies, procedures, and quality improvement strategies. Responsibilities* Supervise SON Student Services staff consisting of seven (7) Academic Advisors and two (2) Administrative Assistants Establish ongoing professional development opportunities to assist in the retention and professional growth of SON Student Services staff Create and implement a comprehensive Staff Training Program Develop and oversee an annual performance evaluation program for SON Student Services staff Promote the diversity of student cohorts, including overseeing best practices for Holistic Admission in the school and support for intentional recruitment Develop and implement student retention strategies based on best practices for academic advising in higher education, in coordination with the SON Student Success Coordinator, and with attention to serving students from disadvantaged backgrounds Supervise and coordinate the admissions and orientation of new students, including the secondary admit process. Facilitate graduation/degree completion processes for students Monitor students progress and services for students who are dismissed or on probation Maintains external and internal communications: Represents the SON on selected campus committees/workgroups/Student Success Center Serves as member of the Office of Students Services team in ex-officio capacity on governing committees (e.g., Admissions, Curriculum, Academic Standards, Awards/Scholarships) Responsible for accurate communication of student information via the SON website; preparation of program information materials, catalogs, and brochures Acts as a liaison with academic and student personnel departments (Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Disability Services, Graduate Programs,etc.) to determine and promote awareness of student needs Required Qualifications* Master's degree in higher education (academic advising, education, leadership, counseling, academic services) or related area. 3 or more years of recent management of professional staff. 5 or more years of experience in higher education student services to include one or more of the following: academic advising, student success support or admissions. Demonstrated experience with organizational assessment and process improvement. Demonstrated appreciation for, and deep understanding of, diversity, inclusion, and belonging Work Schedule Hybrid: A consistent hybrid work schedule (four day on campus and one day remote) is available for this position at this time. However, this is subject to change based upon the duties of the position and the needs of the department.
