Our Parks & Recreation professionals enhance our quality of life. - Our engineers help keep our drinking water clean, the largest airport in the world (by passenger volume) operating and our buildings maintained. -Along with the host of Finance, Procurement, and Human Resources professionals whose support is vital, we are the City of Atlanta! - If you are seeking a meaningful role where you can make a real difference improving and growing our City, we welcome you to explore the job opportunities we have to offer. - Salary Range -$27,100 - $33,900 - Close Date -Until filled - General Description and Classification Standards Performs preventive maintenance services and minor mechanical repair work on light duty vehicles, medium duty vehicles, heavy duty vehicles, Lawn & Turf equipment, and Motorcycles. - This position provides assistance to other mechanics as needed and works alone when the need requires; prepares maintenance records and performs other related -duties as required. Supervision Received Works under direct supervision and follows standardized policy, procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The candidate will be required to assist other divisions with any task if so directed. Inspect, operate, test and repair light duty, medium duty, and heavy duty equipment for proper operation. Repair and maintain various types of vehicles and equipment including, but not limited to, emergency vehicles, fire apparatus. Performs preventative maintenance necessary to ensure the proper functioning of vehicles, mechanical work; repairs or replaces under supervision, alternators, belts, fuses, valves, batteries, wheels, tires or any other component as required. Responds or assist with service call requests; retrieves or repairs vehicle and equipment in the field when needed. Prepares, updates, and maintains maintenance records and documentation. Cleans and maintains all shop facilities and equipment. Changes and repairs all sizes of tires or tubes as needed. Transports vehicles, equipment, and parts to various locations for a variety of purposes. Decision Making Follows and selects from multiple standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Leadership Provided None Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Basic knowledge of automotive principles Basic use of computer and standard business software packages Ability to: read and comprehend property documentation: to meet deadlines in a timely manner Possess basic entry level tools for vehicle repairs
