Summary Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in the clinical setting to assist physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and/or nursing staff. Qualification Requirements Must be proficient in obtaining vital signs, recording patient information accurately and keeping the nurse manager aware of any high-risk situations. Minimum Qualifications • Minimum of 2-year associate degree from an accredited program for medical assistants• CPR and First Aid Certified• Preferred experience in Acumen, and EPIC• Passage of a criminal background check, OIG exclusion and drug screenings.• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Computer skills using Microsoft (MS) Excel and SharePoint, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Teams, and various data management platforms.• Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles.• Exceptional interpersonal skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service.• Knowledge of ethics of confidentiality and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.• Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills.• Manual dexterity.• Ability to understand and follow directions.• Detail oriented.• Attentiveness. Supervisory Responsibilities None Essential Functions • Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting area to the processing room• Review and understand lab values.• Obtains vital signs, which includes blood pressure, temperature, and pulse (radial or apical)• Obtains patient weight and records the information in the chart via the EMR.• Ability to effectively use the Hemocue machine after training and certification by qualified personnel.• Check HGB of patient via fingerstick after training and certification by qualified personnel.• Administer subcutaneous, intermuscular, or intra-dermal injections under direct supervision of a physician as required by protocol and documented in the patient’s chart.• Check out patients in the clinical area.• Responsible for the maintenance, inventory, security, and organization of the medication closet. Physical Demands • Hearing, visual acuity, talking.• Reaching, grabbing, holding – fine motor skills.• Extended periods in a stationary or standing position.• Repetitive motion such as entering data into computer-based programs.• Lift or move up to 10 pounds. Employee is expected to use appropriate ergonomics and tools such as hand carts for heavier loads. Work Environment Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. The noise level is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear.
