Legal Secretary

We are a 3-person California employment law firm and work remotely (two of us live in Texas and one in Philadelphia). All of us have 20+ years of experience, know what we are doing, and are all very normal, experienced, calm and fun to work with. Our practice is 100% employment defense: we reprsent employers in wage hour, discrimination, wrongful term. (etc.) litigation, and also do advice and counsel, handbooks, trainings, etc. We have lots of work and lots of clients, but no administrative support. We need someone to join our team and calendar deadlines, remind us when things are coming up, create basic templates like Case Management Statements, discovery response "shells," set us up for court appearances by Zoom, reserve motion hearing dates, work with our filing vendor to file court documents and overall keep us on track. We use Smokeball as our case management software. Familiarity with that would be good but not absolutely required. Some Great Skills: You will be a great candidate if you: have prepared basic documents; have edited letters and pleadings for spelling and overall formatting; have supported litigators; knowthe lingo of California procedure; are familiar with the way cases flow - complaint, answer or demurrer, discovery, trial prep; know what an answer is, a demurrer, know basic Civil Procedure deadlines for filing oppositions, discovery responses, etc.; know what the "EEOC" is; have worked a case in arbitration; are ORGANIZED! We are interested in ONLY individuals who have experience handling California legal secretary or paralegal work but live someone NOT in California. Part to full time. The range that we are willing to pay is veyr wide, that is because we will pay more for someone fabulous. Apply! Talk to us!
