Salary = $18.80 - $21.60 per hour, depending on experience PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION The purpose of this classification is to perform manual work associated with cleaning, set-up, breaking down and maintaining the Expo Center and may include conducting various errands. Duties and responsibilities also include vacuuming and shampooing carpets, sweeping, and mopping floors, dusting furniture, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash containers, maintaining supplies, running errands, performing general repairs, or performing other tasks as assigned. Assignment to Expo Center reports to General Manager and Operations Supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Vacuums, sweeps, mops, and/or scrubs, carpet or floor surfaces located in hallways, stairs, offices, restrooms, public rooms, elevators, storage rooms, or other areas; performs spot cleaning as needed. Cleans, dusts and polishes furniture, equipment, artwork, fixtures, surfaces, walls, wood paneling, windowsills, trim, baseboards, doors, cabinets, vents, and other surfaces; cleans office equipment, audio/visual equipment, and telephones. Sweeps, mops, deodorizes, and disinfects bathrooms; cleans mirrors; replenishes soap products and paper products. Cleans and disinfects water fountains, telephones, or other public facilities. Washes/cleans glass doors, windows, and blinds. Sweeps, scrubs, and waxes floors. Cleans kitchen/breakroom equipment, such as coffeepots, coffee machines, ice machine, microwave, refrigerator, and personal dishware; cleans vending machines; replenishes soap products and paper products in breakroom. Empties and cleans trash containers; replaces trash liners in containers; picks up and disposes of trash from floor/ground areas; carries/transports trash to dumpster or other designated trash receptacle. Uses handheld cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, dust mops, mop buckets, ladders, and other small tools. Uses cleaning supplies, disinfectants, sprays, liquids, and other cleaning supplies to keep the building maintained. Performs basic maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment. Operates/utilizes/maintains various cleaning equipment, which may include a lift, rider scrubber, rider sweeper, walk behind vacuum, pressure washer, and standard vacuum cleaner. Uses battery chargers to re-charge equipment. Monitors water level in batteries, changes out scrubber pads and empties waste bins on sweeper and scrubber. Monitors inventory levels of equipment supplies, cleaning materials, and other supplies; initiates requests for new or replacement materials; stocks or distributes supply items. Assists in maintaining security of buildings and premises; opens and closes building as scheduled, locks/unlocks various rooms; turns off lights, and other equipment not in use. Assists event holders with questions, set-up, problems and/or general needs. Notifies Operations Supervisor or General Manager about issues that are difficult to solve. Visible to event holders during event operations. Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals. Notifies supervision of safety issues and concerns or problems with safety/security equipment. Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, or other documents as needed. Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, product information, procedures, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate. Assists with clerical activities as needed, such as processing outgoing mail, packaging records for storage, destroying obsolete records, or other tasks. Communicates with supervisor, employees, county officials, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Develops and maintains open dialog with event holders, promoters, vendors, planners, providers, and others if required. Possesses the ability to work alone as well as understand oral and written instructions. Conducts “after use” inspections to ensure the facilities and/or grounds are left clean and undamaged following each scheduled use. Set up rooms and rented spaces for upcoming events Makes minor decisions in accordance with established procedures. Assignment to Ag Center/Expo Center may involve the following additional functions: Performs general work functions as assigned (e.g., cutting grass, trimming trees/brush, picking up litter and debris, mechanical maintenance, spreading grass seed, painting cleaning, watering trees and plants etc.). Performs basic building maintenance tasks inside and outside of facilities such as setting up for events, tearing down after events, changing bulbs, r estocking kitchens, bathrooms, and janitorial closets with towels, trash bags, tissue paper, hand cleaner, etc. Performs various tasks associated with maintaining the Expo Center and grounds maintenance or roadside maintenance, such as mowing grass/weeds, edging landscaped areas, cutting down and removing trees/shrubs, cutting tree limbs, trimming shrubs and hedges, removing debris from ditches and right-of-ways, picking up debris/litter, spreading ground materials, digging holes/trenches, shoveling materials, placing/retrieving signage, loading/unloading trucks, or lifting/moving heavy materials. Special painting and pressure washing projects by assignment. Safety sensitive position subject to pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and random drug screens. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Aids other employees or departments as needed. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED ; 3 to 5 years commercial building cleaning desired . Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. SCHEDULE This position will be required to work a flexible work schedule, including some nights, weekends and holidays in order to meet the responsibilities of maintaining the Expo Center facility and programs associated with the mission of the facility. Verbal Aptitude : Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information. Mathematical Aptitude : Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Functional Reasoning : Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action. Situational Reasoning : Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria. ADA COMPLIANCE/PHYSICAL DEMANDS ANALYSIS Physical Ability : Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). Sensory Requirements : Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
