Description:

We are looking for two master students interested in diet-microbiome associations in health starting in August 2024 or January 2025 at Tennessee State University. Project will focus on combining multi-omics methods such as metagenomics and metabolomics. Candidate must have an equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a major in Biological Sciences Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related discipline with enthusiasm to handle large datasets. Experience working with bacterial culturing techniques, anaerobic workstation, mass spectrometry, high-throughput cell-based assays, and animal models will be advantageous. Experience in analyses of multi-omics data such as next-generation sequencing data and/or metabolomics data in Python is desirable. Experience with R and visualization will be a plus. Good written and verbal communication skills in English are desirable. Admission Requirements: A minimum quality grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.00 point scale Proof of English proficiency: For international students from non-English speaking countries, proof of proficiency in English is required (IELTS/TOEFL). The minimum university requirement for IELTS is 6.0 and TOEFL is 80. A minimum score of 290 on the GRE (verbal and quantitative, or verbal, quantitative and subject), or 370 on the MAT (for US MS applicants).
