Kearney & Company is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Alexandria, VA team supporting one of the Federal government's largest agencies! This position will require up to 2 days a week on-site, with as needed travel to the customer site in Washington, DCDuties include but are not limited to: Supporting the Department of the Navy (DON) audit response, audit remediation, internal controls, financial processes, and/or accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS), and/or relevant Department of the Treasury and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policiesManaging sub-task/project plan: prioritize activities, meet established deadlines, work closely with the client and Kearney team, seek out and provide value-added services Driving improvements to achieve engagement goals Working closely with the client and Kearney team and serve as the primary client-facing point of contact for Kearney Demonstrating excellent writing and communication skills as significant time is spent drafting/updating communication artifacts (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures, Desktop Guides, whitepapers)Demonstrating strong customer service skills and the ability to work in occasional high-pressure situations with short deadlines Directing and reviewing the work of Consultants and Senior Associates Communicating status of project-related tasks to Team Lead and client Qualifications BA/BS/BBA degree from an accredited college/university Minimum of 9 years of progressive, relevant experience, including 6 years of experience leading financial management or business systems modernization/sustainment and related projects Ability to obtain and maintain an U.SSecret security clearance (requires U.Scitizenship) Experience performing financial reporting and compilation within the federal government Strong knowledge of federal generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and concepts, and the ability to apply them to a variety of financial reporting tasksThis includes expertise in SFFAS, TFM, USSGL, and OMB A-136 Proficiency in performing general ledger analysis, including identifying tie-point errors, abnormal balances, and variancesAbility to interpret results to determine root causes Demonstrated ability to draft agency financial report (AFR), including management's discussion and analysis (MD&A) and financial section disclosures Skill in assessing agency compliance with federal accounting standards based on general ledger analysis Experience conducting analysis of general ledger system posting logic and proposing appropriate system changes Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a small financial reporting team effectively Preferred Qualifications: One of the following professional certifications: CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM or CDFMExperience working with the Federal Government and/or DoD clients --- Experience in federal/DoD financial statement auditing, audit remediation, and audit readiness Experience with Treasury reconciliations and Financial Reporting Experience researching and applying FASAB, OMB, and Treasury requirements including OMB Circular A-136, and/or the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM) Experience in federal/DoD financial statement auditing, audit remediation, and audit readiness --- Experience developing/executing corrective action plans and milestones Proficient skills in MS Excel Experience with SharePoint, Oracle, ACL Analytics, PowerBI, and/or Access databases Experience working with DFAS reporting policy and procedures KCO1701 #LI-MA1 Overview Exclusively focused on the Government, Kearney & Company provides financial services, including auditing, consulting, and technology servicesOur commitment to our employees and clients as well as to dedication and trust, critical values to our Firm, have led to Kearney's recognition as one of the leading accounting firms in the countryBased on our employees' feedback, we are also consistently rated a Best Place to WorkEmployment at Kearney means a flexible, collaborative, and open-minded work environmentWe hope it is your "first easy decision."
