Wilmington College is seeking applicants for the position of General Maintenance Technician in our Physical Plant Department on the main campus in Wilmington, Ohio. This is a full time, non-exempt position.General Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skills and semi-skilled maintenance tasks, repairs, and assists with improving the College owned facilities, property and equipment. Responsibilities include: Performs general maintenance, replacement, repair, alterations, and minor installation of: buildings and equipment/fixtures (e.g. doors, windows, walls, floors, stairways, furniture, including painting of College owned facilities and properties. electrical equipment (e.g. light fixtures, electrical outlets, switches, motors, appliances, circuits, generators). plumbing equipment (e.g. water lines, trap fittings, plumbing fixtures pumps). Assist with hazard removal (e.g. snow, ice) as needed. Supervises student workers as needed. Performs other duties as assigned to support the advancement of the College. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. At least three years of training or experience in maintenance repair work is required. Knowledge of maintenance repair work, including light electrical, plumbing, carpentry, associated hand and power tools and equipment, and associated safety practices. Valid State of Ohio driver's license. Ability to perform tasks in low, high, and tight spaces such as closets, windows, crawl spaces under floors and above ceilings, stairwells, equipment rooms, building exteriors and roofs. Ability to handle exposure to dirt, dust, grease, electricity, climatic weather, various chemicals such as drain cleaners, glues, paint, equipment with moving parts and loud noise. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs (50 lbs on a regular basis). Use of machine tools, ladders, and equipment. Ability to drive and operate utility vehicles. Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime when needed.
