A Day in the Life of a Senior Multimodal Engineer You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You lead, support, and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation, and Complete Streets design projects from concept to construction. You'll help design infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as AutoCAD or MicroStation in order to fulfill production work on your projects. You will share your knowledge with staff and clients, to develop feasibility studies, concept plans, and construction documents, as well mentor your colleagues to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality. You participate in business development pursuits in your home region as well as across our North American offices. Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve. Qualifications of a Senior Multimodal Engineer : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation) Professional Engineering license 10+ years of experience developing construction documents for roadways or highways 2+ years of experience serving in a project or design management role Experience in preparing transportation and local agency permit documents Familiarity with national and/or local transportation engineering standards, including City of Philadelphia, PennDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual and/or ITE guidance documents Interest in multimodal and active transportation design including Complete Streets General knowledge of project performance metrics and strategies for monitoring them Proficiency in Computer Automated Design (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation) and a design software (Civil 3D and/or InRoads/OpenRoads) Experience reviewing construction plans and providing constructive feedback Experience developing construction documents, cost estimates and specifications Experience with the City of Philadelphia Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability You'll be great here if: You have strong leadership skills and enjoy participating in multi-disciplinary teams You are passionate about sustainability and the opportunity to work on challenging multimodal projects that make communities more livable You enjoy producing high-quality work products and seeing your projects get built You have strong communication skills, whether written, verbal, or graphical You can build relationships, bring enthusiasm to exciting projects, and are detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills You enjoy actively engaging with and meeting the needs of clients Work Schedule for a Senior Multimodal Engineer : This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. This position is currently managed from our Silver Spring, MD headquarters and we will provide the necessary equipment and flexibility to work remotely along with other Philadelphia team members.
