Office: Residence Life Reports to: Director of Residence Life Work Period: 12 month Hours: Full-time Overtime: Exempt Job Grade: 8 General Summary: Responsible for the oversight of residential operations and facilities, oversight of the room assignment process, implementation of developmental and inclusive programming for students specifically focused on leadership development, community development, crisis management, and development and support of graduate assistants and resident assistants. Reports to the Director of Residence and serving as part of the department's leadership team, the Assistant Director helps with the overall management and operations of the College's residence life and campus housing program and works with students, staff, parents, facilities staff, food service, and on and off campus contacts. Essential Job Functions: Serves on the leadership team within the department of residence life and contributes to the establishing of a strategic plan and realizing specific goals and objectives Manages the daily operations of the central office by performing administrative tasks and procedures in support of the Office of Residence Life, which includes hiring, training, supervising and evaluating student workers. Initiates, processes, submits, and maintains records for requisitions, purchase orders, reimbursements and monthly reconciliations. Serves as an administrator of the eRezLife Housing Management Software and provides oversight of the entire housing selection and assignment process and all billing related matters. Oversees office's social media platforms, webpage and other marketing materials. Oversees office's official opening and closing of all residential facilities as well as managing the 12-month coverage needs of the residence halls operations. Collaborates with Director in coordination of the annual departmental calendar of events Collaborates with facilities staff and campus services in the oversight and management of community spaces, resources, and finishes; including the monitoring of usage and providing recommendations for improvements. Follow-up on work orders and collaborate with facilities staff to facilitate customer service approach to issues and concerns Maintains an accurate key inventory, recording keys as they are signed out and returned, and submitting orders for new keys when needed. Contributes to the planning and implementation of RA training and in-services with an emphasis on curriculum and leadership development. Collaborates with community members - within and outside of the division - to address residential student issues, needs, and concerns. Participates in the on-call duty rotation Supervises student staff by conducting weekly student staff meetings, as well as regular one-on-one student staff meetings. Provides oversight of a programming model that supports student development, overall wellness, and positive citizenship. Manages other administrative projects and team assignments. Attends weekly Residence Life staff meetings and one-on-ones with supervisors. Advises the Director of Residence Life on concerns and issues related to student crisis response. Responds to the students in crisis and distress according to the college's response protocol Travels for professional development REQUIREMENTS Education : Bachelor's degree, Master degree in higher education administration, leadership, or related field is preferred; previous residence life experience is desire Experience : ∙ ∙ Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills ∙ Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion is required. ∙ Strong administrative and communication skills. ∙ Crisis management and supervision experience with a focus on student development. ∙ Must be able to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities and be a team player. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: ∙ Knowledge of student development theory and current trends/best practices for positively engaging students within a residential curriculum. ∙ Ability to supervise individuals from different backgrounds towards the goal of an inclusive, supportive educational environment. ∙ Ability to make sound decisions under pressure. ∙ Comprehensive understanding of the relationship between facilities, services, and residential life. ∙ Strong administrative and communication skills. ∙ Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills. ∙ Ability to manage multiple tasks; and an ability to work within a collaborative environment and with diverse populations. ∙ Ability to maintain effective working relationships and apply principles and practices to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals. ∙ Strong administrative skills with an emphasis on student and professional staff development. ∙Budgetary experience PHYSICAL DEMANDS Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects.
