Medicine & Pathobiology Hospital Affiliation: UHN - Toronto General Hospital Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Description: The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Laboratory Medicine Program at the University Health Network (UHN) are seeking to recruit a hematologist, hematopathologist or anesthesiologist at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The candidate is expected to have diagnostic and research training/expertise in Transfusion Medicine. The expected start date is July 1, 2024 or mutually agreed upon. We are seeking an academic transfusion medicine specialist who will foster excellence in Transfusion Medicine practice, teaching and research at the hospital. Responsibilities will include oversight of the blood transfusion laboratories of UHN and its client facilities throughout the province of Ontario, and provision of consultation to healthcare providers at these same facilities regarding the clinical use of blood products. For candidates with the appropriate qualifications, direct patient care in areas related to blood transfusion may also be considered. Participation and leadership in collaborative or independent research and publishing scholarly work is expected. The successful candidate must show evidence of excellent and innovative scholarship in teaching and education in undergraduate, post-graduate, fellowship, and continuing education. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto, with an academic rank commensurate with academic qualifications.
