Technical Support Engineer (Tooling) GBP30k : GBP38k DOE Hayes, London Reporting to the Technical Process Manager : Tooling, the jobholder will be responsible for providing mechanical CAD expertise supporting the engineering department, with a specific focus on tooling design. Responsible for creating, reviewing, and continuously improving tooling drawings. Support the wider Tooling process to troubleshoot production defects in areas affecting tooling, for continuous development of the tools. Duties and responsibilities Design and develop new tooling concepts, supporting the Technical Process Manager and Tool Maker in creating tooling drawings. Develop detailed tooling design within the CAD system (Solid Works) in close liaison with in: house tool room or external suppliers. Provide technical liaison with internal and external tooling resources, offering support from the wider organisation. Technically support daily operations in documenting tooling, covering NEW, MODIFICATION, and REPAIR of tooling. Create internal tooling work instructions (as required) to document the use and maintenance of specific tooling for consistent quality output. Investigate and develop new processes, methods, and layouts to increase equipment flexibility and improve throughput within OEM standard requirements. Investigate non: conformities and, within the matrix environment, alter tooling or processes until deficiencies or unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. Responsible for creating engineering documentation as required, including CAD: based BUSH drawings (draft and model), PDF: based Picture Sheets, Inspection documents, and other supporting documents. Education and qualifications Minimum qualification HND in a mechanical discipline with significant CAD experience. Higher qualification considered if able to demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing tool design. Training in Lean manufacturing, Continuous improvement, and Statistical Process.
