Help Desk Technician Position Summary Position is located in Colchester, VTThe Help Desk Technician will assist employees and students with the setup, activation and basic troubleshooting involved in classroom and conference room AV and web conferencing technologies. Support includes setup and testing of computer systems, peripherals and local and web-based software. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems. The position utilizes one-on-one consultancy to end users. Major Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ensure customer service is timely and accurate. Utilize appropriate incident tracking tools to track issue progress and resolution. Responsible for AV equipment setup/troubleshooting/operation/maintenance including: video cameras and equipment, media players, video projectors, VTC endpoints, audio systems and their components, document cameras, and other miscellaneous AV related equipment or cabling. Participate in active use of Ticket Management System, reports, and team review. Conduct regular walk throughs and spot checks of class and meeting spaces, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Exposure to a variety of the information technology concepts, practices, and procedures. Strong supervisory and staff development abilities. Expertise in the management and troubleshooting of enterprise printing, digital signage and A/V environments. Experience with planning, setup and support of a variety of event types. Proven ability to provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair of a standard office technologies, including and computers, tablets, smart phones, etc. Adaptive and flexible Resourceful and quick to take initiative. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to prioritize and balance competing priorities and time constraints. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal abilities. Required Qualifications Education and Experience: High School Diploma plus one to two years in user support services or related. College degree preferred Demonstrates strong interest in technology. Direct experience with professional AV systems and equipment. Certified technology training or equivalent experience that includes customer service. Preferred Qualifications While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
