Description:

Shelby Electric Cooperative (SEC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Broadband Technician. This position is 40 hours per week with the potential for occasional overtime. Normal operating hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience Must have a high school diploma, GED certificate or equivalent Must have the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of basic installation principles. Required Licenses and/or Certifications Must have a good driving record, acceptable to the Cooperative. Must be forklift certified. Non-physical Requirements Must be able to work with minimal or no supervision. Must have excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with customers. Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours, as well as weekends, and after hours to meet deadlines. Physical Requirements Must be able to work in close spaces such as crawl spaces. Must be able to climb towers / structures up to 275 feet. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions. Must possess manual dexterity and visual acuity, as well as the ability to effectively listen and communicate orally; to consistently stand, and walk; to frequently sit, bend, stoop, squat, lift and carry between 75-100 pounds, push and/or pull, reach above shoulder level, and twist; to occasionally climb, balance, kneel, and crouch. Must be able to effectively listen, communicate and use visual acuity to locate possible hazards while performing duties of the position. Safety Sensitive Classification This position is classified as safety sensitive. Job Functions Essential Job Duties Perform the installation, repair, and maintenance of Broadband systems. Assist in the training of new employees in the installation, trouble shooting, and repair of Broadband systems. Attend fairs and parades to promote Broadband and Member Services products. Accurately and timely complete all relevant paperwork. Resolve any customer complaints arising in the field within authority. Keep accurate daily time and charges to proper accounts. Locate and maintain assigned tools and equipment in a proper and safe manner, as well as ensure safe working conditions. Store inventory items, as well as assist in the inventory of Broadband products. Assist with maintenance and repairs of the infrastructures at tower sites. Trouble shoot member internet problems when warranted. Assist in the routing of installation and repair work assigned.
