Description:

PRIMARY PURPOSE/DUTIES: Full knowledge of all areas of prep stations. Responsible for opening and closing kitchen, and fills in for Sous Chef in their absence. Prepares meal ingredients as directed by the Sous Chef and Executive Chef, and communicates any updates to the culinary team. Follow recipes and taste food to ensure a quality product Performs prep cooks duties for both hot/cold food items. Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients, and supplies. Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts. Performs daily inventory and requisitions of raw materials and ingredients according to the daily preparation requirements. Oversee the stocking, dating, and temperature of ingredients. Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards. Ensure the prep area and kitchen is cleaned and sanitized at the end of the shift. Must follow current covid-19 safety guidelines. Required Skills/Abilities: Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety. Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to work quickly and efficiently. Ability to work well as part of a team. Ability to maintain personal hygiene. Education and Experience: High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety, preferred. Culinary experience required. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen. Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Must be able to work late nights and unpredictable hours. Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks. Compensation: Starting at $18/hour. After 3-month review salary increase between $19-21 based on skill level
