Position Description Summary : APT Research is hiring a Senior Software Airworthiness Engineer to conduct software system safety evaluations for DoD systems to support our Huntsville, AL operations. We are looking for someone within driving distance to Huntsville, AL to perform this position hybrid/remotely. The tasks include: · Supports software system requirements identification and development process by evaluating and assessing planning, design, development, production, and operations for DoD software systems architectures. · Prepares and writes formal Systems Safety Hazard Analysis Reports to categorize and summarize all potential software-hardware interaction hazards. · Performs software safety-critical and mission-critical systems analysis throughout the life cycle from initial requirements through design, implementation, testing, delivery, and support. · Utilizes excellent written and oral communication skills to maintain successful daily interaction with customer and teammates. · Operates proactively with ability to handle significant responsibility, and attention to detail. Required Minimum Education/Experience : · A minimum of 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or closely related technical discipline. · Experience developing embedded mission critical software in C, C++, or ADA · Familiarity with software development/lifecycle IEEE 12207, MIL-STD-498 · Experience with Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and/or Failure Mode, Effects & Critically Analysis (FMECA) · Working knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516, DO-178, MIL-STD-882, JSSSEH, AMCOM Regulation 385-17, SAE ARP 4761, or similar software safety standards · Knowledge of the integration and verification of large systems Security Clearance Requirement: · An active DoD Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required. Preferred Experience: · Knowledge of static and dynamic code analysis · Experience with Model Based Software Development · Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink, Rhapsody, DOORS, SCADE, etc. · Experience with Army Aviation SW Systems · Experience with the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) · Knowledge of the Airworthiness Release (AWR) process · Knowledge of Army Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria (AMACC) or MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria Work Environment : · Office environment · Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication, both verbally and written · Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers · Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) Physical Requirements : · Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk · Ability to lift >15 lbs.
