The Compensation Manager is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and administering Build-A-Bear's corporate and field compensation programs. This role will analyze and consult on total compensation elements and provide recommendations that balance fairness and equity with cost effectiveness. Other expectations include reviewing job descriptions, grading jobs, participating in salary surveys, reviewing and updating pay structures and bonus plans. Additional responsibilities include administration of stock grants, keep systems up to date, and ensure terminations are done timely and the management of the full annual performance appraisal process including appraisals, merit increases and bonuses. Responsibilities : Conducts market research and analysis to determine appropriate compensation for existing and new roles, based on factors such as industry standards, job requirements and other relevant information Develops recommendations for improvements to existing programs Responsible for maintenance of compensation data through the UKG system Develops responses to management and employee requests and counsels with other department management in the administration and interpretation of compensation related policies and practices Executes the administration of stock grants Participates in salary surveys to determine competitiveness and appropriateness of job classifications Leads the midyear and year-end Performance Review and merit increase processes, including bonus and LTI payouts Manages minimum wage increases and addresses any concerns with compression across levels Works directly with recruiting team on compensation recommendations for offer packages and compensation tools needed to successfully recruit and retain top talent Partners with Finance and Store Operations to review and update base pay structures and bonus plans for field and corporate office associates annually Acts as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and recommendations for creative or alternative solutions to resolve compensation related issues, collaborating with business partners locally and globally Conducts internal market studies, using a variety of sources (i.e. turnover, hiring rates, market compensation data), developing recommended actions and presenting proposals to key partners Ensures compliance with employment-related federal and state statutory requirements regarding employee pay and remaining up-to-date on current compensation-related legislation (i.e. DOL, FLSA, EEO, etc.) Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in compensation or related HR experience Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) accreditation required Experience with an HCM system, UKG preferred Ability to maintain the high confidential nature and sensitivity necessary to uphold human resources ethical standards Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to present data to executive leadership and address concerns that come from employees at all levels Advance skills in Microsoft Excel, proficiency in Word and PowerPoint required Proven track record of prioritizing and driving to success multiple projects Ability to prioritize, plan and organize projects in order to achieve objectives accurately and on time Apply online at http://careers.buildabear.com (Choose Corporate Office Opportunities) Build-A-Bear Workshop® offers an exciting, fun and fast-paced work environment.
