We seek individuals whose leadership styles and experiences demonstrate: A record of successful collaboration with colleagues A commitment to lifelong learning, and ongoing professional development The infusion of technology to enhance professional learning Experience with and openness to interdisciplinary teaching practices A commitment to issues of diversity Experience evaluating and supervising faculty and staff A record of executing tasks in a systematic, organized manner Experience with effectively communicating academic, social, and behavioral concerns with parents, teachers, and students Summary: The Assistant Director of Child Care, in coordination with the Director of Child Care, assists in managing an efficient and well-organized child care facility (Little Friends Early Learning Center) for administration, faculty, parents and students, and maintains a relaxed, caring, safe, joyful program grounded in Quaker values. The Assistant Director collaborates with the School's Pre-Primary Division to provide a developmentally-appropriate program (emergent curriculum) that ensures student readiness to proceed to the next level of their educations, and that incorporates the latest research in education and child-development. Responsibilities: Follows the Maryland State Department of Education licensing requirements, making sure the Little Friends program is in compliance at all times. Helps to oversee Little Friends daily child care program. Mentors, supervises, provides direction, training, and support to teachers and the Director of Child Care. Develops a rapport with families to promote effective communication and support. Helps to foster a high level of customer service among the Little Friends team when dealing with families, providing resources when appropriate. Assists in recruiting appropriate number of personnel for all age groups ranging from 6 weeks to age 4 and ensures the proper adult-to-child ratio is maintained according to the enrollment on any given day. Manages schedule for substitutes, as needed. Maintains accurate records pertaining to time worked and requests for time off. Helps with overseeing and approving time worked. Assists the Director in managing annual budgets. Maintains files for purchase orders, enrollment applications and contracts, employee information, licensing and other correspondence. Assists with oversight for a well-maintained building, playground, and outdoor spaces. Assists Little Friends Teachers in lessons and curriculum planning, as needed. Assists in planning, supporting, or conducting informative and educational staff meetings on a regular basis. Helps to create an environment where communication can happen freely, openly and constructively, particularly when problem solving. Seeks feedback for personal growth. Attends faculty and staff meetings. Advertises, promotes and advocates for Little Friends in the community. Assists with the recruitment, training, and retention of a robust substitute teacher pool. Key relationships: Reports to the Director of Child Care; works with members of the Little Friends School Learning team; Friends School of Baltimore faculty, students, and families. Qualifications : A Bachelor's degree in any field, or , an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education with at least 15 semester hours of approved coursework is required; Two years of related experience working in an approved early childhood school (ages 6 weeks to 4 years). 45 clock hours child development and 45 clock hours curriculum planning. 45 hour clock hours infant/toddler. At least 9 clock hours of approved training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public. 40-45 clock hours or the equivalent of approved administrative training, preferred. 3 clock hours in ADA compliance. Within 6 months after date of hire, complete a regulation training. Knowledge of and experience with Quakerism is a plus. Experience working with a developmentally appropriate student readiness program is desired. Excellent communication, collaboration and organization skills required.
