Position: Librarian K-8 Position type:Full Time Position location (School): Lindley Academy Department: Teacher Reports to: Principal Employment status: Exempt Employment duration:10 months Position Summary: The Librarian encourages reading for pleasure and learning by all students, by doing readers' advisory and developing/maintaining an appropriate and interesting collection. The librarian is responsible for co-teaching flexibly scheduled lessons and units on research and other information literacy skills with classroom teachers. Major Responsibilities Promote reading for pleasure and learning through school wide initiatives (book fairs, clubs, contests, and displays) Develop and maintain relationships with students Readers' advisory - act as a resource to inform and assist students with book selections. Develop & maintain library collection and OPAC Co-teach research and other information literacy skills with other classroom teachers. Act as a resource to teachers and students to provide information literacy instruction across the curriculum. Teach fixed classes to provide teachers prep time Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education and training Computer and electronics reading comprehension Administration and Management Communications and Media Instructing Judgement and Decision Making Complex problem solving Learning Strategies Coordination Technology Skills Library software Google Suites Microsoft Suites Basic office equipment Education and certifications Bachelors Degree Certification from the PA Department of Education Physical Requirements Sitting Walking Standing Operating Mechanical Equipment Talking Pushing Lifting 20-25 lbs Moving up and down from a seated position American Paradigm Schools are Caring School Communities. The lessons in the program help faculty and staff create a warm, safe, and disciplined school environment where all community members can develop the skills and dispositions they need to interact constructively with others.
