Structural Engineer - Senior Level

CFD Research has an Immediate Opening for a Talented, Senior Level Structural Engineer to support Army Aviation Programs/Projects specially working with rotary wing program offices. The candidate will perform a variety of tasks to support the design and analysis of transmissions, housings, shafting, couplings, and bearings for various helicopter programs. Job Requirements: Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree and 17 years of experience or Master's Degree and 13 years (Preferred degree will be in a STEM discipline) Extensive experience in engineering design, preferably working on design and analysis of transmissions, housings, shafting, couplings, bolted joints and bearings Experience with classical and finite element stress analysis, fatigue analysis, and cumulative damage theory, as well as failure analysis of mechanical components and systems Experience with coupon and full-scale fatigue testing, and fatigue curve development Experience with material properties and mechanics of materials Experience with Tribology Experience with analyzing data from flight load surveys Other Requirements: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and parts lists Proficient in technical writing Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to travel (Travel may be up to 10-20%) Preferred Experience: Experience performing structural analysis on rotating hardware is a plus. Performing analysis on transmission type hardware is a plus. Familiarity with aircraft transmission and drive systems is a definite plus.
