When it comes to our employees, we value, respect, and help them grow in their careers. The Mechanical Engineer will support Bastion Technologies Engineering on multiple NASA and Commercial projects. The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for analyzing requirements and developing new designs for proposed hardware and supports the engineering design life cycle including preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, and final design reviews. Individuals in this position are expected to provide direction and training to lower-level Engineers and Designers. The Mechanical Engineer II coordinates design projects and leads others to accomplish work products. RESPONSIBILITIES: Design mechanical and electrical components and systems and oversees the fabrication, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment. Analyze engineering sketches, specification and related data, and drawings to determine design factors such as size shape and arrangement of parts. Prepare procurement packages for parts and materials. Oversee the construction of machine and subassemblies considering such specifications as gear ratios, bearing loads, and direction of moving parts. Compile and analyze test data to determine effect of design on machines in relation to factors such as temperature, pressure, speed, horsepower, and fuel consumption. Develop engineering models, using computer-based drawing packages such as SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent design packages. Ensures engineering design integrity by reviewing structural and mechanical design release documents for completeness and proper authorizations. May be responsible for leading small projects from design and fabrication. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED: This position has been posted at multiple levels. This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status due to the sensitivity of customer related information. Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of mechanical engineering, or a related field. Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience and must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Good understanding of manufacturing process and techniques. DESIRED: Aerospace design experience and analysis skills. WORK LOCATION: This position is located onsite at Bastion Technologies headquartered in Houston, Texas. STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS: Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite. All of Bastion's employees must be team players. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives. Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented. Must be organized with good time management skills. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. Will work with, and around, standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time). ATTENDANCE: Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements. BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED: All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process. DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED: All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.
