The primary responsibility of Independence Lifeguards is to ensure the safety of our residents and their guests first through preventative strategies and water safety education. It is essential that Lifeguards also take action as the first responder to incidents and emergencies within our aquatic facilities. Employment Details Lifeguard pay range $12.00 - $17.00/hr Lifeguard with WSI certification range $12.45 - $17.45/hr Opportunity for annual pay increases Seasonal employment dates: May 22 - September 9, 2023 Staff receives paid training for recertification and free training opportunities including Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Responsibilities Recognize and respond quickly and effectively as the first responder Routinely engage with the public during active surveillance to enforce all aquatic facility rules Inspect the facility on a daily basis including testing the pool water every 4 hours and reporting any unsafe conditions promptly. Participate in all Lifeguard In-service training sessions. Participate in unannounced emergency response scenarios Maintain a fitness level equivalent to American Red Cross Lifeguard performance criteria Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor Knowledge and Skills Self-motivated and willingness to be a leader Public relations skills including strong communication skills and ability to project voice Decision making skills Lifeguard Certification or proficient swimmer able to become Lifeguard certified Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work outdoors in a mixture of weather conditions and stay on feet for extended periods of time Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol test along with background check required, minors require parental or guardian consent.
