Job Summary St. Joseph Catholic Academy is seeking a motivated, passionate, and inspiring High School Humanities teacher to guide our students in understanding the complexities of the world and how different cultures shape and influence societies. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's or master's degree in Humanities or related fields, teaching experience, strong classroom management skills and an ability to create an engaging learning environment for all students. Essential Duties Develop and implement lesson plans, activities, and assessments that align with state standards and the school's curriculum. Create a healthy and safe learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and inspired to realize their full potential. Deliver engaging lectures, facilitate classroom discussions, and encourage critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students. Use technology to enhance teaching and learning, promote student collaboration, and personalize instruction. Evaluate student performance, provide feedback, and communicate effectively with parents, administrators, and fellow teachers. Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of Humanities, stay up to date with current trends and best practices in education. Communicate in a friendly and positive manner toward parents and students and foster a culture of trust and collaboration. Collaborate with History, Art, Music, and other Teachers to align curriculum. Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly classroom, and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the school. Provide feedback on student work, keep grading records, and respond to parent emails. Serve as a role model of faith and virtue for Joseph Catholic Academy students. Keep records of attendance, accidents, and incidents. Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Always ensure the safety of students. Contribute to the school's extra-curricular activities, attend faculty meetings, serve on committees, and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of all students. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of curriculum development, teaching strategies, and assessment techniques. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures. Ability to communicate comfortably (written and orally) with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and others. Ability to create a diverse and inclusive learning environment that respects and values all students, regardless of their backgrounds, race, gender, or religion. Strong passion for teaching and learning, and the ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their academic and personal goals. Proficient in the use of instructional technology and tools such as Google Classroom, Canvas, and Microsoft Office. Minimum Qualifications Education: At least a Bachelor's degree in Humanities, English or related field from an accredited college or university. Experience: Previous experience teaching Humanities at the high school level. Certifications and Training: Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 60 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment. Valid teaching certification or licensure in the state of Texas. Working Conditions Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting of up to approximately 30 pounds may be required. All employees of the school are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the principal in the exercise of the principal's ministry and obligations to the school. The school is an at-will employer. Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly. Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required. Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech including Christian prayer and Catholic liturgical celebrations. Staff meetings and other functions may open and close with Christian prayer. Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards. All buildings and vehicles owned by the school are tobacco free. May be required to use personal or school vehicles to drive to off-site locations. Traveling within and outside the school to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may include overnight lodging. Must maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Will be required to work in multiple educational settings.
