Position Overview Under direct supervision and in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOP’s), the Lab Animal Technician provides primary health care and husbandry to a variety of research animal species. The Lab Animal Technician also assists with or performs technical procedures to maintain lab animal health and provide technical service to animal users in support of approved animal study protocols. The position is ideal for a person with a Veterinary Technician diploma. The position requires the incumbent have the ability to pay attention to detail, follow SOP’s and/or study protocols and possess keen observation skills. Personnel must be able to work in a team environment and interrelate with diverse client groups including faculty, graduate students, fellows and commercial clients. Previous GLP experience is desirable. The position is required to work assigned weekends, evenings and holidays as needed. The key responsibility of all staff of the R. O. Burrell Lab is the health and humane care of all animals in the facility while providing quality support to research staff and their projects.
