Date Posted: 11/08/2023 Closing Date: 12/15/2023 , 11:59PM ET Req ID: 34839 Job Category: Faculty - Clinical Faculty/Division: Temerty Faculty of Medicine Department: Dept of Medicine Hospital Affiliation: University Health Network (UHN) & Sinai Health System (SHS) Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Description: The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Division of Cardiology of the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System (SHS) are seeking to recruit a qualified full-time Clinical Academic Cardiologist with expertise in cardiovascular-critical care (cardiac intensivist). The successful candidate would fulfil the academic position description of Clinician Teacher (CT) and must be eligible for academic appointment at the minimum rank of Lecturer at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024 or as mutually agreed upon. The Cardiac Intensivist will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team, and is responsible for a 14-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. They will have completed a minimum of one-year of critical care fellowship. The successful candidate will have subspecialty training in cardiology and fellowship training in critical care and will be able to manage patients with critical and complex illness, taking a patient centered approach. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence and effective ability in interpersonal relationships, oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, priority and problem-solving skills, and conflict resolution. The candidate would have experience in the management of advanced ventilatory support, renal replacement therapy, hemodynamic monitoring, percutaneous mechanical circulatory support devices (Impella, RVAD, LVAD, Protek Duo, and Tandem Heart), advanced heart failure patients, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and heart transplant, as well as overflow post cardiac surgery patients. .
