We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Skelmersdale to assist with the appointment of a Senior Environmental Health Officer , on a 2-month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration. Summary: To participate in the work of the Food and Safety section of the Environmental and Community Protection Service. Workplaces (assigned to the Authority for enforcement purposes) present minimal risk to the health, safety and welfare of people working at or visiting such premises; Food premises comply with food safety legislation and food produced, manufactured and offered for sale does not pose a risk to health; Outbreaks of food poisoning and other infectious diseases are controlled Responsibilities: To keep the Principal Environmental Health Officer (Food and H&S) and Environmental Health Manager informed about controversial and sensitive issues and about the level of performance of technical staff To undertake all duties in an efficient and consistent manner. To provide support to the Corporate Health and Safety Officers, as directed by the Principal Environmental Health Officer (Food and H&S) and/or Environmental Health Manager. To work outside normal office hours when required to do so by the Principal Environmental Health Officer or Environmental Health Manager. To participate in the out-of-hours standby service. Qualifications: BSc Degree in Environmental Health or the Diploma in Environmental Health or their equivalent and registration by the EHORB Holds chartered status with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Full driving licence and use of own car or equivalent mobility Knowledge and experience of legal proceedings Current knowledge of relevant work areas and related legislation Previous experience of food safety and/or health & safety regulation Relevant qualifications in the functional areas of Environmental Health Excellent ICT skills, including.
