We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of an Environmental Health Officer, on a 3- month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration. Responsibilities: Assist the team leader as required in leading and managing an operational team. To work as part of a team to provide a service within an approved framework of procedures and using approved management information systems. To respond competently to a wide range of problems arising from service requests, pro-active work, projects, and customer interviews. To represent the business unit and council as a witness, and give expert evidence in court proceedings, tribunals, and public inquiries as required. Provide mentoring and guidance to enforcement officers, and provide day to day coaching to enhance the quality of their enforcement case work To participate in and contribute positively to appraisal and development processes for self and other staff as appropriate. Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years relevant post-qualification experience within the field of environmental health or trading standards. Experience of providing expert/specialist advice and guidance within at least one field in environmental health or trading standards Experience of enforcing environmental health or trading standards legislation in accordance with enforcement concordats and protocols. Experience in preparing legal papers and appearing as a witness in court. Experience in managing and prioritising a complex caseload Please note: You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice. You should have right to work in U.
